October 21, 2009
As October progresses, so to does the fall foliage season. Much of northern New England and northern New York have now past peak. The same holds true in the higher elevations of New York's Catskill Mountains in the southeast part of the state. The foliage has reached peak in coastal Maine, southern New Hampshire, the western half of Massachusetts, much of northern Connecticut, much of central New York and in extreme northern Pennsylvania. In western New York, the southern Hudson River Valley in New York, non-coastal eastern Massachusetts, much of southern Connecticut, northern New Jersey and much of central and southwest Pennsylvania, foliage change is high (61% - 80% change). Elsewhere, foliage change is moderate.
Leaf drop ranges from low (where foliage change is moderate) to high (where peak has passed).
