Located near downtown Wausau in the Andrew Warren Historic District, the Stewart Inn offers the hospitality and warmth of a small European hotel along with luxurious, modern amenities and attentive service. It's the perfect lodging choice for celebrating a special occasion or renewing yourself while traveling on business. If you're traveling with a dog, you'll find the accommodations welcoming for you and your pet.
Completed in 1906, this 9,000 square foot Prairie Style building was designed for Hiram and Irene Stewart by George W. Maher, a contemporary and associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. The mansion is nationally recognized as an outstanding example of Maher’s motif-rhythm theory that used repetition of floral and geometric elements to achieve a sense of unity. In this building the tulip and segmental arch appear in hundreds of places, including doors, windows, light fixtures, cabinets, and dormers. The mansion has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974.
