Foliage Report #12

October 13, 2001
Peak conditions continue to spread slowly to the east and south in the Midwest region. Portions of northern Minnesota and northern Wisonsin have now gone past peak. It is important to note that past peak does not mean that foliage viewing has past in these locations. Often, past peak conditions can be among the most beautiful, not only are there colorful leaves on the trees, but also covering the ground. The remaining area sections of Wisonsin, the lower peninsula of Michigan, and that state of Ohio are reporting moderate to high color change.

Leaf drop in the northern half of Minnesota and sections of northern Wisconsin is at high levels, that is, in the 61%-80% range. All other locations in the region continue to report low to moderate amounts of leaf drop.

This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network. The next report will be released Wednesday, October 17, 2001.
