Peak conditions continue to spread to the east and south in the Midwest
region. A majority of northern Minnesota and portions of northern Wisconsin
have now gone past peak. It is important to note that past peak does not
mean that foliage viewing has past in these locations. Often, past peak
conditions can be among the most beautiful, not only are there colorful
leaves on the trees, but also covering the ground. Southern Minnesota,
a majority of Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan are now at
peak. Peak color is also being reported in the extreme northern lower
peninsula of Michigan and isolated areas in central and southern Ohio.
The remaining sections of Wisconsin, the lower peninsula of Michigan,
and the state of Ohio are reporting moderate to high color change.
Leaf drop throughout Minnesota
and western Wisconsin has reached high levels, and is nearly complete
in a few locations. All other areas in the region continue to report low
to moderate amounts of leaf drop.

Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network. The next report will be released
Saturday, October 20, 2001.
