Foliage
Reports Archive - 2002
Midwest United States |
October 26, 2002 The best foliage viewing in the region can be found in southern Wisconsin, the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and western portions of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. These regions are in the peak range, with great foliage displays. Elsewhere in the region, the remainder of the L.P. of Michigan and the state of Ohio are reporting moderate (31 to 60 percent) to high (61 to 80 percent) color change. Northern Wisconsin and much of Minnesota are now past peak. Leaf drop in the northern half of Minnesota and much of western Wisconsin is nearly complete to complete. The recent heavy snow is much to blame for this. All other areas are reporting leaf drop in the moderate to high range. Suggested drives. In Minnesota: Forestville-Mystery Cave State Park near Preston in southeastern Minnesota. In Wisconsin: Route 60 from Bridgeport to Prairie du Sac. In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan: Route 2 from Rapid River to Manistique; Route 123 from Eckerman to Moran. In the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, State Route 20 from Route 31 to Route 131.
