Foliage Report #1

Labor Day has passed, the days and nights are getting cooler and the days are getting shorter. Yes, the summer of 2003 is giving way to the beautiful days of autumn. September is here and The Foliage Network is kicking into high gear to once again provide the best foliage information available. Welcome to the 2003 fall foliage season! With most trees nearly 100% green, there is not much to talk about with respect to the foliage...yet.

We can, however, take a quick look ahead to what the trees have in store for us this fall. The spring and summer were on the dry side in much of the region, the exception being Ohio where normal to slightly higher than normal rainfall occurred. The drier than normal conditions may lead to a slightly faster onset of color change. Watch for The Foliage Network reports throughout the fall to keep up to date with the latest foliage conditions.
