October 5, 2005
Once again, temperatures have been above normal, a recurring theme during September that has continued into October. However, that will soon change as a cold front makes its way through the region in the coming days. The cold front has brought snow to Montana, the Dakotas and Colorado and will bring temperatures down in the region.
Some peak conditions have finally arrived in northeastern Minnesota! The season started out slowly, but has progressed rapidly in the last week. Those areas in northern Minnesota not at peak are reporting high color (61% - 80% change). Central and southern Minnesota range between low color (11% - 30% change) to moderate color (31% - 60% change). The same holds true to Wisconsin and Michigan. Meanwhile, in Ohio, the last areas of little to no change are limited to northern Ohio. Elsewhere, most locations are reporting low color.
Leaf drop is mostly very low to low throughout the region. The exceptions being northeastern Minnesota and portions of western Wisconsin, where moderate leaf drop is being reported.
