Foliage Reports - Midwest United States

Foliage Report #12

October 12, 2005

Fall foliage color continues to progress in the region as we move into mid-October.

Much of northern and western Minnesota is now at peak color. Peak conditions are also being reported in parts of northern Wisconsin and portions of the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. High color (61% - 80% change) can be found in the balance of Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, portions of southern Wisconsin and much of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Lower Peninsula of Michigan and the State of Ohio are reporting mostly low (11% - 30% change) to moderate (31% - 60% change) foliage color. In extreme northern Minnesota, the foliage has passed peak.

Leaf drop is moderate in many areas where the color has reached high to peak conditions. In northern Minnesota, where peak has passed, leaf drop is high. Elsewhere in the region, leaf drop is mostly low.
