Foliage Report #8

October 3, 2007

October has arrived and it is looking like fall in much of the upper Midwest. In Minnesota, there is much color to be seen. Extreme northern Minnesota is reporting peak color. The balance of the northern half of the state is in the high color (61% - 80% change) range. And in the southern half of state, moderate color (31% - 60% change) is being reported.

Next door in Wisconsin, there is quite the mix of foliage change. In northwest Wisconsin, high color predominates with some peak reports in spots. Moderate color can be found in northeast and central Wisconsin. Meanwhile, in southern Wisconsin, the foliage has yet to really get going.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is alive with foliage color with conditions ranging from moderate to high color. The Lower Peninsula is reporting moderate color to the north and low color to the south.

Ohio is reporting mostly low color throughout the state. The exception being portions of northeastern Ohio where some moderate color is beginning to show.

Leaf drop has picked up a bit in areas reporting high to peak color. In these areas, leaf drop is moderate. Elsewhere in the region, leaf drop is very low to low.

Next Report: Saturday, October 6, 2007
