1999 Foliage Report
#10
October 2, 1999 The first reports of peak conditions in the Northeast have arrived! Portions of northern New Hampshire, northeastern Vermont, south-central Vermont, and and the Catskill Mountains of New York have reported peak color. Elsewhere in the Northeast, color has rapidly increased since the last report. Moderate to high color now can be found in a good portion of inland Maine, the northern half of New Hampshire, most of Vermont, northern, western, and Catskill regions of New York and portions of central Pennsylvania and the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania. Windy conditions experienced mid to late this past week (09/27 - 10/01) have led to more leaf drop throughout the Northeast. Areas in northern and western Maine, northern New Hampshire, and isolated sections of central Vermont and northern New York are now reporting moderate leaf drop. Elsewhere, low to very low leaf drop is still the rule.
