1999 Foliage Report
#2
September 4, 1999 The foliage continues to slowly progress. More color has been reported since the last report. Portions of the western Lakes of Maine and the Crown of Maine are now reporting low colors, up from very low colors in the last report. New Hampshire and Vermont have remained mostly unchanged since report #1. However, there are fewer areas reporting no change. In New York, big changes have taken place. Most of the state is now seeing some color. In the northern Adirondacks and the extreme southwestern part of the state, low color is being observed. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey have not reported any significant changes. Finally, in central Pennsylvania, more locations are reporting some color, compared with no change in the first report. Monday and Tuesday, the remnants of Tropical Storm Dennis will move into the Northeast. This will result in heavy rains, scattered thunderstorms, and windy conditions. This will remove many of the dead leaves caused by the drought and benefit the foliage season. Please stay tuned to The Foliage Network for more updates!
