2000 Foliage Report
#14

||
October 18, 2000 Much of the foliage in northern New England has now passed peak conditions. However, it is important to note that past peak still provides for good foliage viewing. The once bright colors in these areas have now turned to deep shades of yellow, orange, and red. Other areas reporting past peak conditions include the Adirondack Mountains in northeastern New York, the Catskill Mountains in southeastern New York, and portions of western New York. The balance of upstate New York, western Massachusetts, central New Hampshire, and most of southern Maine have reached peak color. High color is being reported in coastal sections of south-central Maine, southern New Hampshire, central and eastern Massachusetts, northern Connecticut, Rhode Island, the lower Hudson Valley of New York, northern New Jersey, and central and western Pennsylvania. In southern Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, greater New York City and Long Island, and southern Connecticut are reporting only moderate foliage color. High leaf drop has been reported in northern New England, northern New York, portions of the southern tier of New York, the Catskill Mountains in southeastern New York, the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, and isolated sections of northwestern Pennsylvania. Most other areas in the Northeast are reporting moderate leaf drop. The exceptions being extreme northern Maine which is experiencing nearly complete leaf drop, and coastal sections of Connecticut where leaf drop is still low. Watch for upcoming foliage reports from The Foliage Network to keep up with autumn's spectacular colors!
