2000 Foliage Report
#16
October 25, 2000 Most of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York have past peak foliage conditions. The only areas still reporting high color or peak conditions in these states are coastal sections of Maine, southeastern New Hampshire, portions of western Vermont, areas along Lake Ontario and Lake Erie in New York, the lower Hudson Valley in New York, and New York City and Long Island. Other regions reporting past peak conditions include western Massachusetts, and portions of northern and western Pennsylvania. Elsewhere in the Northeast, most areas are reporting peak conditions. Moderate and high color however, is still the rule in southeastern Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, New York City and Long Island, and Cape Cod and the islands of Massachusetts. Leaf drop has increased considerably in the last week in much of the Northeast. Complete leaf drop is now being reported in sections of northern Maine. The leaf drop in much of northern New England, northern New York, the southern tier of New York, and much of northern Pennsylvania is nearly complete. The remainder of the Northeast is reporting either moderate or high amounts of fallen leaves. Watch for upcoming foliage reports from The Foliage Network to keep up with autumn's spectacular colors!
