2000 Foliage Report
#5
September 16, 2000 Leaf color continues to slowly progress in the Northeast. Northern Maine and New Hampshire, areas in the Adirondack and Catskill mountains in New York, portions of western New York, and spotty sections of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania are reporting low color, or 11%-30% color change. The only area still reporting no color change is southern coastal New Jersey. The next few days will be dry with mild daytime temperatures and cool, crisp nights, ideal conditions for fall foliage. Leaf drop has increased slightly in spotty areas of the Northeast, but is not yet a factor for leaf peeping. Watch for upcoming foliage reports from The Foliage Network to keep up with autumn's spectacular colors!
