2000 Foliage Report #6

September 20, 2000
The entire Northeast is now reporting some degree of color change. As the foliage season slowly progresses, more areas are beginning to observe 11-30 percent foliage color change. Among these are the Crown of Maine, northern New Hampshire, and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Other mountainous areas, including the Adirondacks and Catskills in New York, the Berkshires in eastern Massachusetts, and the Poconos in northeast Pennsylvania, are also in the 11-30 percent color change range. The remaining regions in the Northeast continue to report very low color.

In the past few days, portions of the Northeast have experienced rainy and windy conditions. Because of this, some leaf drop has been reported. However, a majority of the leaves remain on the trees, waiting for the chance to show off their breathtaking hues. Watch for upcoming foliage reports from The Foliage Network to keep up with autumn's spectacular colors!
