Reports Archive - 2002
Northeast United States |
September 18, 2002 Nearly the entire Northeast is now reporting some degree of color. While most of the reports are of very low color change, the number of areas reporting low color (11% - 30%) is on the rise. Among the areas reporting low color include much of northern and western Maine, the Great North Woods region of New Hampshire, portions of the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont, much of central Vermont, in New York, the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains as well as portions of the southern tier, and areas in central and western Pennsylvania. Leaf drop continues to be low to very low. The recent passing of the remnants of Tropical Storm Gustav brought high winds to much of the Northeast, bringing down the leaves on some of the trees showing premature color. The healthy trees, thankfully, maintained their canopy. This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network.
