Foliage
Reports Archive - 2002
Northeast United States |
September 25, 2002 With temperatures finally cooling and becoming more seasonable, the foliage change should soon be on the increase. Thus far, the season is off to a rather slow start. A good portion of the Northeast is now reporting low color (11 to 30 percent change). Reports of moderate color have come in from parts of northern Maine, the western mountains of Maine, parts of central Vermont and the higher elevations of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York. These areas are experiencing 31 to 60 percent change. Leaf drop continues to be low to very low. Those leaves which have fallen have either been leaves which changed early, or from distressed trees which are dropping brown, dried out leaves. For the most part, however, tree canopies remain healthy, waiting to wow leaf-peepers! This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network.
