Foliage Report #22

November 16, 2002

This is the final report for the 2002 season. The only remaining peak conditions can be found in southern New Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania and on Long Island in New York. The rest of the region has past peak.

The 2002 season could be summed up with one word, strange. The season lasted longer than normal and even in early November, there were some trees which were completely green and full of leaves. Another strange characteristic of this season was the lack of "peak" because of this mix of completely changed trees and completely green trees. All tolled, this was not one of the better foliage seasons for leaf-peeping.
