Foliage Reports Archive - 2003 Northeast United States |
|
October 18, 2003 Color abounds in much of the Northeast as the the season begins to wind down in the northern sections of the region. Much of northern Maine, northern New Hampshire and parts of northeast Vermont have past peak. The higher elevations of the Adirondack Mountains in New York have also past peak conditions. However, there are still leaves on the trees there to enjoy. Elsewhere in the Northeast, high and peak color dominate in most locations. The exceptions being coastal regions and southeastern Pennsylvania. The heavy winds experienced during this past week have resulted in a significant increase in leaf drop. This is quite unfortunate given the beauty of this foliage season. However, there are still a lot of leaves to enjoy! Need a place to stay? Check out our Places to Stay and Foliage Spotters sections to find great accommodations! This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network. The next report will be released on Wednesday, October 22, 2003.
