Foliage Report #18

November 1, 2003

For most of the Northeast, the foliage season has ended. However, fall color can still be seen in some areas. Western and downstate New York, extreme western Pennsylvania, much of eastern Pennsylvania, most of New Jersey, central and eastern Massachusetts, coastal New Hampshire, some coastal sections of Maine, all of Rhode Island, and much of Connecticut are still experiencing either high color or peak color change. All other locations have now passed peak.

Leaf drop across the Northeast is mainly moderate to high. Those areas reporting past peak conditions are noting nearly complete leaf drop. In northern Maine, northern New Hampshire, the mountains of Vermont and much of the Adirondack Mountains in New York are reporting complete leaf drop.
