Great foliage can be found throughout southern New England,
in much of upstate and western New York and in Pennsylvania
and New Jersey. Peak has passed in much of Maine and Vermont
and in central and northern New Hampshire. The same holds true
for the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains in New York and portions
of the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts.
Here are some of the places to visit now for great foliage
displays.
Connecticut - Now is a "can't miss" in Connecticut,
as great foliage can be found statewide.
Maine - State Route 4 in southern Maine. Don't delay, the color
there won't last much longer.
Massachusetts - Much of the foliage viewing has moved east
from the Berkshires. This is a great time to
visit the Pioneer Valley in western Massachusetts. Check out
U.S. Route 5 from Northampton north to
Greenfield. State Route 10 through Amherst should offer some
splendid foliage viewing.
New Hampshire - State Route 101 from Keene east to Milford.
U.S. Route 1 along the seacoast in southeast New Hampshire.
New Jersey - County Route 519 from Hope (Warren County) southwest
to Milford (Hunterdon County). State Route 57 from Washington,
N.J. west to the Pennsylvania border.
New York - Now is a great time to visit the Finger Lakes region
in western New York. The lower Hudson
Valley is also showing great color.
Pennsylvania - Much of the state is alive with the colors of
fall. The exceptions being parts of northeast
Pennsylvania, where peak has passed and extreme southeast PA
where color is still moderate.
Rhode Island - Great foliage can be found throughout the state.
Leaf drop in areas where the foliage has passed peak is nearly
complete. Elsewhere in the region, leaf drop
is moderate to high.
