Foliage Report #14

October 24 , 2007

The foliage season continues to march on in the Northeast as October draws to a close. In portions of northern New England and northeastern New York, peak has passed. These areas include much of northern Maine, northern New Hampshire, northeast and south-central Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains in northeast New York. Other areas of northern New England are at peak. Other areas reporting peak color include the Catskill Mountains in southeastern New York, portions of the Berkshire Mountains in western Massachusetts and extreme northwest New Jersey.

High color has spread into southern New Hampshire, interior Massachusetts, central and western New York, much of Connecticut, northern Rhode Island, much of central and southern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey. Moderate color can be found in coastal regions of southern New England, downstate New York, western and southeastern Pennsylvania and much of New Jersey.

Leaf drop is moderate to high in locations at or past peak and low in areas with low to moderate color.
