Foliage Report #8

September 27, 2003

The Southeast is gearing up for the foliage season as October rapidly approaches. Currently, the highest degree of color change can be seen throughout the Great Smoky Mountains and Bald Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee and along the Appalachian Mountain Chain in eastern West Virginia and extreme western Maryland. However, the change is low at 11 to 30 percent. Elsewhere in the region, color change remains at or below 10 percent.
