October 4, 2003 Moderate (31 to 60 percent) color is now showing up in the mountains of western Maryland and northeastern West Virginia. Elsewhere in the region, color change remains at or below 30 percent. This year's foliage change is a bit behind normal, most likely attributed to the abundant rain that fell in the region this year. If you have not yet made your leaf-peeping travel plans, now is the time! Check out our Places to Stay and Foliage Spotters sections to find great accommodations! This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network. The next report will be released on Wednesday, October 8, 2003.
