Great color is really starting to pop in much
of the region. In particular, the mountains of western Maryland,
West Virginia, western Virginia, western North Carolina and
eastern Tennessee are showing fantastic foliage color. High
to peak color dominates in these locations. In northeast West
Virginia, isolated areas are beginning to pass peak conditions.
Here are some of the places to visit now for
great foliage displays.
Maryland - You can't go wrong visiting the western
panhandle of the state where peak conditions are in control.
North Carolina - The mountains along the North
Carolina/Tennessee border are showing high color (61% - 80%
change).
Tennessee - Again, the mountains along the North
Carolina/Tennessee are showing high color.
Virginia - The Allegheny Mountains in west-central
Virginia (along U.S. Route 220).
West Virginia - U.S. Route 219 from Lewisburg
north to Elkins. U.S. Route 33 from Weston east to Seneca
Rocks.
Leaf drop is mostly moderate throughout the
region.
