Much of western Virginia and Maryland, most
of West Virginia and the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee
are showing peak color. Elsewhere in the region, moderate
(31% - 60% change) to high (61% - 80% change) can be found.
In portions of northern and southern West Virginia, peak has
passed.
Here are some of the places to visit now for
great foliage displays.
Maryland - The western panhandle of the state
continues to show peak foliage conditions. Some of the higher
elevations however, may be just past peak.
North Carolina - The mountains along the North
Carolina/Tennessee border are showing peak color (81% - 100%
change).
Tennessee - Again, the mountains along the North Carolina/Tennessee
are showing great color.
Virginia - The Allegheny Mountains in west-central
Virginia (along U.S. Route 220). The famed Skyline Drive in
the Shenandoah National Park is showing fantastic fall colors.
Venture off of Interstate 81 to find
abundant fall foliage.
West Virginia - Bright fall foliage can be found
throughout the state. Watch out for some of the areas in
northern and southeastern West Virginia as some areas have
passed peak.
Leaf drop is mostly moderate to high throughout the region.
