The foliage season continues its slow start in the region. The only color being reported is in the Potomac Highlands in eastern West Virginia where color change is low (11%-30%). All other areas are reporting little to no change. Most of the limited color has been reported in dogwoods, sumac and locust.
Leaf drop is mostly very low across the Southeast. There are however, a few locations reporting low leaf drop. Most of these areas have been quite dry, causing some leaves to dry and drop prematurely. This is not uncommon under dry conditions and is not a cause for concern at this time.
