Happy Halloween! The foliage season is progressing nicely in the region. Many of the higher elevations along the Appalachian Mountain chain (running from eastern Tennesse and western North Carolina northeastward through western Virginia, eastern Virginia and western Maryland) are reporting mostly high to peak color. Most of the peak color is restricted to the higher elevations. The valleys continue to report moderate to high color. Many of the coastal regions and locations at lower elevations are reporting mostly moderate color. The highest elevations of northeastern West Virginia have past peak.
Leaf drop is low to moderate in most locations. The exceptions are the places past peak in West Virginia where leaf drop is high.
