To most, when Rhode Island is mentioned, thoughts are of beaches, sailing, and coastal mansions. But there is more to this state than just a playground for the rich and famous. The Blackstone River Valley is a pleasant surprise where one can vacation in quietude and leisure. History is here--the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution where the first successful water-powered cotton mill was put in operation. Scenic state parks, canoeing and kayaking, hiking, biking, camping, and sleigh rides in the winter. Family interests and family fun.

Greater Providence
Greater Providence, as any large city, is difficult to capsulate its many attractions and things to do. The city itself is its main attraction with its resurrection, restoration, and refurbishment that has become a national model of revitalization and development as snippets can be seen on the TV program Providence. Here is a mixture of history, culture, galleries, and museums, shopping, dining, and entertainment to satisfy diversity of tastes. A family place for family living and vacationing.

Warwick & West Bay
The Warwick Region is a mixture of concentrated retailing enterprises, 39 miles of coastline for boating fun, and rolling countryside for the outdoors enthusiasts and easy- paced vacationers. Antique shopping in the surrounding towns and villages, hiking and biking trails. Historic landmarks and museums. The city of Warwick is the retailing hub the region with two malls, hundreds of specialty shops and discount stores, boutiques line Warwick's "Miracle Mile of Shopping".

The West Bay Area has no towns or villages. Intrinsically it is part of the Warwick Region. West Bay has beaches and boating facilities for those who would like to spend a day on soft sandy beaches or to take a spin on the water cruising about the islands in the bay.

The East Bay area is sprinkled with typical New England harbor towns, places of historic interest and grand 18th and 19th century homes and mansions. Bristol, the main town, began with a farming tradition and grew into mercantile and shipbuilding trades. Bristol also hosts the oldest 4th of July parade in America. Also, the area is the nation's oldest Arbortorium. Museums, historic landmarks, antique shopping, biking, and sailing will keep one occupied.

There is much more to Newport County besides the fabulous mansions of Newport, or yachts, or tennis. Yes, those mentioned are all here and should be seen and experienced, especially the mansions. Still, the county offers many attractions for the entire family. There is the visual appreciation of the landscape, state parks, nature trails, historic sites, museums, walking tours, bird sanctuaries and refuges, swimming, sailing, fishing, kite flying, and fine seafood restaurants. You don't have to be wealthy to get a wealth of family enjoyment here in Newport County. Come and discover for yourself.

One of New England's best known and return-to vacation area, the South County stretches from the Connecticut border to Newport. It possesses 14 wonderful sandy beaches and boasts of 18 public golf courses, and its great saltwater fishing. The region has historic sites, museums, lighthouses, sailing, swimming, windsurfing, shopping and whale watching. A great vacation area for the entire family in all seasons.

Block Island
Twelve miles off the coast of Rhode Island lies Block Island, a compact 10-square miles of unspoiled land with gently rolling hills and imposing rugged bluffs. Miles of changing coastline from beautiful beaches to the bluffs. Visiting Block Island with its village, Victorian hotels, inns and B&Bs transports one to the easier pace of living of the 1800's. Biking, hiking, bird watching, canoeing, kayaking and shopping can keep one quite active.
