Greater Providence

Greater Providence, as any large city, is difficult to capsulate its many attractions and things to do. The city itself is its main attraction with its resurrection, restoration, and refurbishment that has become a national model of revitalization and development as snippets can be seen on the TV program Providence. Here is a mixture of history, culture, galleries, and museums, shopping, dining, and entertainment to satisfy diversity of tastes. A family place for family living and vacationing.

Attractions
  • Federal Hill section where the spicy aroma of Italian foods makes one's mouth water. "Little Italy" in Providence where old customs blend in with the new for a comfortable slice of ethnic culture.
  • State Capitol Building is capped by one of the world's largest self-supporting domes. The building is favorably compared to the nation's capitol in D.C.

Historic Sites
  • Benefit Street known as the "Mile of History" is a walking tour of Colonial preservation of numerous historical Colonial homes, many of which are open to the public.

  • Waterplace Park & River Walk a magnificent 4-acre park for strolling, picnicking, kayaking, gondola rides, or just plain old relaxing on the grassy knolls and enjoy life around you.

Science & Nature Related
  • Roger Williams Park Zoo is considered one of the best in New England. Many species of animals from around the world. Also, take in the Park's splendid gardens and the planetarium. Educational programs for the entire family.
