Warwick & West Bay

The Warwick Region is a mixture of concentrated retailing enterprises, 39 miles of coastline for boating fun, and rolling countryside for the outdoors enthusiasts and easy- paced vacationers. Antique shopping in the surrounding towns and villages, hiking and biking trails. Historic landmarks and museums. The city of Warwick is the retailing hub the region with two malls, hundreds of specialty shops and discount stores, boutiques line Warwick's "Miracle Mile of Shopping".

The West Bay Area has no towns or villages. Intrinsically it is part of the Warwick Region. West Bay has beaches and boating facilities for those who would like to spend a day on soft sandy beaches or to take a spin on the water cruising about the islands in the bay.

Things to See and Do

Attractions
  • Pontiac Mills; a converted textile mill now contains numerous shops offering antiques, art work, custom furniture, and viewing of crafts people working their trades.

Historic Sites
  • Governor Sprague Mansion; a 28-room mansion featuring period furnishings and oriental art objects. A restored carriage house showcasing gypsy and Conestoga wagons.
  • John Watermann Arnold House; a historic structure with its imposing winding front staircase, and a beehive oven.

Locations
  • Apponaug Village; a historic district in downtown Warwick. Combination of 18th and 19th-century buildings that creates a nostalgic atmosphere going back more than 200 years.
  • Pawtuxet Village; with its tree-lined streets filled with dozens of Colonial homes, it is one of the oldest villages in New England.

Museums
  • Warwick Museum of Art; numerous programs and art exhibits that change throughout the year enhance one's art appreciation.
