The Islands
and Farms Region is comprised of the mainland and three main
islands--Grand Island, North Hero, and Isle La Motte, which
are accessible by car from the mainland over bridges and causeways.
The mainland's terrain changes from the sandy shores of Lake
Champlain through rolling hills and farmland to the distant
mountains. Back country roads, excellent dining, great shopping,
history, culture and other activities for all four seasons.
Hiking, biking,swimming, fishing, golfing to ice fishing, skating,skiing,
and ice climbing. One can simply enjoy Nature or fill your day(s)
with other activities. It's all up to you.

Attractions
Fort St.
Anne on the Isle La Motte--site is the oldest settlement in
Vermont.
St.Anne
Shrine on the Isle La Motte includes a Chapel, Stations of the
Cross, Grotto, Gift Shop, picnic grounds, cafeteria, beach and
dock.
The Hyde
Log Cabin on Grand Island; this cabin was built in 1783 by Jedediah
Hyde Jr. It was home to the Hyde family for 150 years. It is
one of the oldest log cabins in the U.S. In the cabin are maps
of the original land grants and other artifacts relating to
the history and settlement of Grand Island.
Covered Bridges
Hopkins
covered bridge is located in Enosburgh, VT (Franklin County).
Built in 1875, this bridge spans the Trout River and is located
adjacent to Route 118.
Lower (or
Maple Street) covered bridge is located in Fairfax, VT (Franklin
County). This bridge was built in 1865 and spans Mill Brook.
Located on Maple Street.
East Fairfield
covered bridge is located in Fairfield, VT (Franklin County).
Built c.1865, spanning Black Creek. Located adjacent to Route
36.
Fuller
(or Blackfalls) covered bridge is located in Montgomery, VT
(Franklin County). Built in 1890 and spans the Trout River.
Located adjacent to Route 118.
Comstock
covered bridge is located in Montgomery, VT (Franklin County).
This bridge, which spans the Trout River, was built in 1883
and is located adjacent to Route 118.
West Hill,
Creamery or Crystal Springs covered bridge is located in Montgomery,
VT (Franklin County). Built in 1883. Spans West Hill Brook on
an abandoned section of West Hill Road, 3 miles south off of
Route 118. Natural waterfall at bridge.
Longley,
Harnois or Head covered bridge is located in Montgomery, VT
(Franklin County). Built in 1893, this bridge spans the Trout
River. Located on Town Highway 4, west off of Route 118.
Hectorville
covered bridge is located in Montgomery, VT (Franklin County).
This bridge, spanning the South Branch of the Trout River, was
built in 1883. Located adjacent to Route 118. Moved from Montgomery
Village in 1899.
Hutchins
covered bridge is located in Montgomery, VT (Franklin County).
Built in 1883, this bridge spans the South Branch of the Trout
River on Hutchins Road, 1 mile off Route 118.
Historic Sites
Science & Nature Related
Chazyan
Reef on Isle La Motte is one world's oldest true coral reefs
with fossils of Earth's earliest creatures, including ancient
relatives of sponges, tube coral, and starfish. All this dates
back billions of years when the Northeast's saltwater coastline
lay in this area.
Missisquoi
National Wildlife Refuge allows one to get close to Nature and
view numerous species of wildlife.
